If you are a UK income tax payer, why not take advantage of Gift Aid to make the most of your donation, allowing us to claim extra money from the taxman? It doesn't cost you a penny. Please complete this Gift Aid EUYO 2013.pdf form and return it by email or by post to the aforementioned addresses.

Higher Rate Tax Payers - get money back from the taxman on your donation to us

If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax 40 and/or 45 per cent and the basic rate of tax 20 per cent on the total 'gross' value of your donation to the charity or CASC.

For example, if you donate £100, the total value of your donation to the charity is £125 - so you can claim back:

  • £25 - if you pay tax at 40 per cent (£125 × 20%)
  • £31.25 - if you pay tax at 45 per cent (£125 × 20%) plus (£125 × 5%)

You can make this claim on your Self Assessment tax return, if you were sent one.

Alternatively, you could give the difference back to the EUYO, along with any other tax rebates.  For further information on the steps you need to take, please visit the HMRC website or contact

Self-assessment - assign your tax rebates to the EUYO

From April 2004, Self-Assessment taxpayers have been able to use the tax return form to donate to charity all or part of any repayment due to them.

The donation will go direct to the charity's bank account; the taxpayer can choose to Gift Aid the donation (see above) and any tax rebate Gift Aided donations will be paid to the charity without the need for a claim. The EUYO's unique code for this is BAU82KG and this should be used on the Self-Assessment tax return to ensure that the payment reaches the EUYO's account directly.

Leaving a legacy
Remembering the European Union Youth Orchestra in your will can make a real difference to the life of a young musician and can benefit your family and friends.

Leaving such a legacy would not be subject to inheritance tax and would reduce the amount of your will that is taxable.

We are able to help and provide all relevant documents: please give us a call or email

Shares giving

By donating shares to the EUYO you will also be able to take advantage of tax efficient giving as well as claiming income or corporation tax relief on certain shares.

Gifts of shares allow the donor to deduct from that year's taxable income the market value of the investments at the date of the gifts to the charity, plus any incidental costs incurred in tranferring the investments, such as broker's fees, less any proceeds or benefits the donor receives in consequence of the gift.

GIfts of shares to a charity are also free from liability to Capital Gains Tax.
